Finally, after 2 years of no camera and no memories of good times with friends and family, I convinced myself that having a camera is not as useless as I thought it would be. I thought having a camera was not so important to me (and of course, it's not in my top priority even now), but when I thought about the many places I have visited with friends and family, the many parties and celebrations we've had that were so much fun and those beautiful moments of nature that come my way on the most uneventful days of school, I thought, I should not miss those anymore and capture those moments for a good laugh or to bring a smile on my face, may be, 30 -40 years from now. I decided to get a camera!
I did not do a comprehensive research but I was very impressed with the first website that I came across (
http://www.kenrockwell.com ) and it, apparently, praised the Nikon D40 so much that I was already contemplating the possibility of getting this sucker. But, the price tag put me off the very moment I looked at it. I was thinking of just getting a compact, point-to-shoot camera for a couple of hundred USDs but, then, I started looking for reviews on cnet.net and youtube and one interesting thing was that though cnet experts rated the D40 only less compared to some point-to-shoot cameras, the people who actually had the D40 were so happy and praising the D40. If you search for D40 on YouTube, you cam find a good amount of videos. I do not want to simply brag about this peice of technology even before I get my hands on it. I will post another article as soon as I get the D40 and post a video "the D40 unboxing" (like so many other found on YouTube). So, I was impressed with the reviews and I haven't ever owned any type of SLR camera ever before. This made me interested in the D40 and I also got an awesome deal online. I still have to learn a lot about using SLRs and other simple photography techniques.
Anyways, I am expecting the shipment to arrive by Friday next week (the 31st). See ya'll then.
